Assured Loading Card

Enjoy priority boarding on the following three routes between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island with a BC Ferries Assured Loading Card.
 
  • Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Victoria (Swartz Bay)
  • Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Nanaimo (Duke Point)
  • Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) – Nanaimo (Departure Bay)*
 
 
*Changes to Assured Loading Card travel as of October 15, 2025

Assured Loading Cards will no longer be accepted for travel from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay, one direction only. 

This fall, critical infrastructure renewal will start at Horseshoe Bay terminal, which will temporarily reduce vehicle space in the terminal by 25%. As a result, all customers travelling by vehicle from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (Nanaimo) will need to book and pay in advance. As of October 15, Assured Loading Tickets will no longer be redeemable for travel from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo (Departure Bay). Assured Loading Tickets will continue to be redeemable for travel from Nanaimo (Departure Bay) to Horseshoe Bay, or for the alternate Tsawwassen to Vancouver Island routes. 

If you do not have flexibility to travel on alternate routes, or would prefer not to use your remaining tickets, the following options are available: 

  • Request a refund: Be refunded the unused, unexpired portion of your card, a form is available here.
  • Request extension: If your card has tickets that will expire between August 7, 2025 and October 15, 2025, you may request one (1) extension of six (6) months to the expiry date of those tickets. A form is available here. Extension requests must be submitted before October 15, 2025.

How to get and use your Assured Loading Card

Pick up your card:

  • At any BC Ferries ticket booth
  • At any major BC Ferries terminal
  • By calling 1-888-BC FERRY (1-888-223-3779) – we will mail your card to you


Once you have your card, register and load it with Assured Loading Tickets (ALTs) in groups of 10 to start using it to pay for travel.

  • Effective April 1, 2025, load ALTs to your card in groups of 10 for $2,050* per group
  • One Assured Loading Ticket pays for 1 driver plus 1 standard vehicle - up to 7 ft. (2.13 m) high and 20 ft. (6.10 m) long
  • Present your loaded card to the ticket agent at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure to ensure guaranteed travel


Important:

  • Assured Loading Tickets expire two years from date of purchase
  • Expired ALTs will not be refunded
  • ALT travel is exempt from any regular discounts such as senior, student or disability fares
  • Assured Loading cardholders must have their physical card in their possession and visible at time of payment. It is not possible to use Assured Loading Tickets if a cardholder does not have their physical Assured Loading Card present

Auto Load to never run out of ALTs
Auto Load helps you to manage the number of tickets on your Assured Loading Card so you never run out. When you link a valid credit card to your account, Auto Load will automatically load your card for you when the number of tickets remaining on your card falls below a certain number that you choose.
 
  • For example, you could set up your account to Auto Load 10 more ALTs whenever you get down to your last two tickets.

Sign in to your Assured Loading Card account to set up Auto Load.
Report lost cards
If you lose your card, contact us and we will cancel it and move any remaining balance of ALTs to a new card.
 
  • By phone at 1-888-BC FERRY (1-888-223-3779)
  • In-person at any major BC Ferries terminal administration office (we will ask for valid photo ID)
